PARTITION OF BENGAL

 INTRODUCTION:-

The decision to effect the partation of bengal was announced on 19th july 1905 by viceroy of india Lord Curzon.the partation took place on 16 october 1905 & separate the largely muslim eastern areas from the largely hindu western areas.

REASON BEHIND PARTATION:-

OFFICIAL REASON: 

(i)Less Administration Burden on Government.

(ii) Deal with Finnance an Defence.

(iii)Attend to Remote Areas

ACTUAL REASONS:-

(i) Weaken the National Movement

(ii) Policy of Devide & Rule

(iii)Reactionary Politics of

 Lord curzon to show that the opinion

 of the political leaders had no meaning.

WESTERN PROVINCE:-

1)West Bengal,Bihar ,Orissa 

2)Hindu majority

3) Hindi & Oriya speaking Majority.

EASTERN PROVINCE:-

1)East Bengal,Assam,Tripura

2)Chittagong, Dhaka,Rajshahi ,Malda

3)Muslim Majority

4) Bengali speaking Majority

WEST BENGAL'S REACTION AFTER PARTATION:-

i)They clearly saw the aim of the Britishers to break the unity of the bengali people on communal lines & thus weaken the natrionalist movement.

ii) The day of  partation was observed as aday of mourning. all business came to a standstill. on the suggestion of the great poet Rabindranath tagore the day was also observe as adsay of unity & solidarity of the people. He introduced a programme callled "Rakhi Bondhon"

iii) During the movement to lend the partation of bengal ,new methods of struggle were adopted.these methods ,which included Swadesi & Boycott movement ,brought in participation by the common people in the Anti-British political activities,"Bande Matram" became their movements main anthem

EAST BENGAL 'S REACTION AFTER PARTATION:-

i) All the muslims are very much supportive to the decision  opf partation.

ii) Muslims's became very hopeful of development.

iii)Lower cast Hindus are also very happy with that decision.
